BIO
Aetherna was born in February 2015, with the name First Aid and a line-up composed of:
Vincenzo Zappatore on lead guitar, Vittorio Flumeri on rhythm guitar, Marco Di Marco on bass, Luigi Iesu on drums and Virginia De Propris on vocals.
With this line-up, basing a repertoire on a genre of alternative/hard rock covers, they go on many stages of the Roman underground and write their first unreleased song: Darkness Land.
In January 2016 the group, after having brought the new song live and having a fair amount of success, decides to change its name to Aetherna, a name that is chosen because it better fits the change of musical genre undertaken (Alternative/Gothic Metal).
In June 2016 Virginia leaves the band while the second unreleased song of the group sees the light, entitled: Lord of Sin.
The final development and exposure of this piece to the public is up to the new singer, Ylenia Bispuri, who joins the band in October of the same year.
In the following month, thanks to the creativity of the illustrator Riccardo Abbasciano, the official logo of the band sees the light.
The partnership with the new singer lasts very little, in fact in March 2017 Aetherna find themselves again without a front girl, due to the sudden abandonment of Ylenia.
In the same month, however, the band comes into contact with Germana “Noage” Del Monaco, a talented voice already heard in previous auditions, who promptly joins the group bringing a very important contribution also in terms of lyrics, in the new unreleased songs: Event Horizon (immediately proposed live the same month) and Sound From Nowhere.
In the following months the unreleased songs see the light: Overdream and Devil’s Lullaby which are immediately proposed in all the band’s Live shows.
2018 is the year in which the group begins recording their first LP, however dedicating a lot of space to live performances, thus making the band increasingly present in the Roman underground scene.
All this leads to a real leap in quality already in 2019; in fact, in addition to supporting prestigious bands and artists during live performances (Lambstone, Pino Scotto, Lacuna Coil), the band signs with the reborn international music label ELEVATE RECORDS which confirms the publication of the group’s first CD of unreleased material in October of the same year.
The album is actually released and presented to the public during the release party on October 16, 2019, and subsequently in November 2019 in a live performance supporting Dave Ellefson of Megadeth.
In December 2019, Luigi Iesu and Aetherna decide to split up and the group starts looking for a new drummer. In June 2020 they begin a brief collaboration with drummer Daniele Zangara, in the hope of starting a new chapter and a new adventure for the band!
Unfortunately, the adventure with the new drummer did not last long; after two live shows, the band, like the rest of the world, suffers a new stop caused by the global pandemic. During that period, both Daniele and Germana decide to leave the band, the latter with the intention of dedicating herself to her solo projects.
Aetherna do not give up and after a short time, in June 2021, they hire the new singer, Marianna Manzi, who promptly dedicates herself to her interpretation of the songs on the album and to the attempt to contribute to the writing of the new songs.
Furthermore, in September 2021, the talented drummer Giovanni Del Giudice joins the group. He also dedicates himself assiduously to the interpretation of the old songs and, 20 days after his entry, Aetherna can return on stage giving a strong signal of return stronger and more determined than they have ever been.
Furthermore, Giovanni immediately dedicates himself to supporting Enzo in the composition of the songs of the new album, thus giving a clear cut to the change of genre, thanks to his nu-metal style.
With the new line-Up, Aetherna begins in 2022, an intense live activity that leads them to achieve wide consensus among the public and to expand the ranks of loyal supporters!
In 2023 they enter the studio to record the new album, continuing the Live activity however where the new song Inside is proposed.
Meanwhile, the well-known Underground magazine TEMPI DISPARI dedicates the cover to him, after a survey on the live performances recently listened to by readers.
All this while Giovanni becomes an endorser of TEBBS drum sticks!
Unfortunately, Aetherna’s misfortunes do not subside. In April 203, Marianna and the rest of the band’s paths separate due to artistic differences: Aetherna are forced again to find a singer capable of giving new verve to the project.
Singer who is identified as Tamara Secci, who immediately strikes the band with her grit and vocal skills during her audition, and with whom the new album will be recorded.
Tamara has poured all her passion, energy and grit into the band and the project. All the songs of the second album, due out at the end of 2025, were recorded with her. Thanks to her, the band has captured the attention of many, among the public and among professionals, all intrigued by this new Line Up and waiting to touch the work to be released soon.
To give a sign of this “rebirth”, the band decides to remaster a milestone of their repertoire. Let’s talk about Sounds From Nowhere 2025, thanks to which the band sends an unmistakable signal: it’s us, we’re the same, but at the same time we’ve evolved. As if to let the entire audience experience first-hand the result of this tortuous path that the Band has gone through over the years.
